Position Summary

We are seeking an individual with a strong passion and desire to build/maintain client’s Big Data infrastructure on the cloud to deploy and manage Apache Mesos/Spark cluster, NoSql databases, data collectors, and data products. The Big Data Administrator must be adept at troubleshooting and maintaining the platform, which is used to build solutions for Advanced Analytics, Data Services and Solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Keep the Big Data infrastructure operational across various environments.

• Proactively monitor systems and drive troubleshooting and tuning.

• Support the Sr. Big Data Administrator to solve Big Data platform issues/challenges.

• Work closely with Business Analyst, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists to install tools & tech-stack and deploy/manage models and data-services.

• Understand all components of the Big Data infrastructure in order to analyze impact of alerts and other system messages.

• Serve as a POC (point of contact) for production issues/alerts (i.e., issues with deployment of analytic models and data services) and resolve the issues in a timely manner.

• Setup, configure and manage of appropriate security.

• Maintain security baselines, rules, and best practices

Experience

• 15+ years of RHEL administration experience.

• 5+ years of experience in managing Big Data, distributed data storing & computing framework (Hadoop cluster and related technology stack).

• 3+ years of experience with administration within Amazon Web Services.

• Experience with maintaining, troubleshooting and setup large clusters.

• Strong knowledge of current hardware systems commonly used in production environments.

• Experience with supporting development and production deployments.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge in networking to troubleshoot and isolate infrastructure issues.

• Strong collaboration skills to work with a variety of internal teams.

• General Linux administration related problem-solving.

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

• Experience with architecting and building Big Data infrastructure is a plus.

• Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live systems issues.

• Scripting skills with Shell/Perl/Python is a plus.

• Experience maintaining a data pipeline a plus

Education, Training, or Certification

Bachelor (BS) degree (or equivalent work experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant field
