Vice President of Safety – Industrial Construction - MO #4320

This entrepreneurial organization offers the right person an opportunity to be a senior leader of our team as the Vice President of Safety. The position includes managing the current staff of 6 safety, claims, and administrative professionals.

General Responsibilities:

1. Senior Executive – This position serves as a key member of the leadership team and will be the lead executive in charge of our safety program, including the strategic direction of our safety process.

2. Leadership Development – This position will have overall management responsibility for a total of 6 full time salaried employees and will ensure their continued development goals are established and met and that they continue to provide value to the organization.

3. Regulatory Expertise – This position requires a thorough understanding of OSHA construction standards, including training, PPE, etc.

4. Professional and Ethical – This position will operate in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

Employment Pre-Requisites:

1. At least 10 years of experience in the role of a lead safety professional, with experience in a variety of construction environments including refining, power or heavy manufacturing industries.

2. Strong management skills with a successful track record of leading and managing change initiatives. Exceptional communications skills are essential.

3. A bachelor’s degree in safety with an emphasis on Industrial or General Construction is required and an advance degree or CSP is attractive.

2. Superior communication and interpersonal skills and ability to partner with the executive team, group leaders, project managers, and the field workforce.

4. Must be an accomplished self-starter who is comfortable accepting responsibility for successfully achieving personal, group and organizational objectives.

5. Must possess excellent customer service orientation with a commitment to client satisfaction.

6. This person should thrive in a team-oriented environment and must be a person of unquestionable character and background whose personal values and management style are compatible with company culture.

Reporting Relationship:

Position reports to the Senior Vice President of Operations.

Performance Measures:

1. Lead the effort regarding the strategic direction of our safety program.

2. Identify gaps in our process and effectively communicate and lead the improvements that need to be made.

3. Provide guidance to and oversight of the existing safety team members.
