ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN: ENGINEERING SUPPORT SERVICES

EXPERIENCE:

The Engineering Technician must be fluent with AutoCAD, EXCEL, WORD, MS VISIO and MS Project as well as have knowledge of electrostatic discharge (ESD), system grounding, lightning protection; public works functions such as identification of customer requirements, development of specifications, statement of work and cost estimates; project management, coordination and quality control; understanding of data and voice communications equipment, cabling and building/underground infrastructures; use of fiber optic and copper test equipment; submittal of forms and attachments; coordination of work with various shop areas; equipment identification, specifications, facility preparation, installation, testing, and training coordination; volumetric evaluations of space in order to provide optimal use of production and warehouse space.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

In addition to any other requirements for written work products, a weekly report shall be prepared and submitted to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), the engineer will be required to:

•Plan independent job orders (IJO) work and organize the future IJO work into a prioritized format.

•Upon prioritizing the workload over the next twelve (12) months.

•Interface with industrial modernization division (IMD), Depot telephone contractors and installation IT Division on D/IS’s behalf on a number of routine projects.

•Maintain base maps and records on all telephone and fiber optic cabling.

•Propose new projects to upgrade/modify the existing cable infrastructure to meet current and future needs.

Work with other CORs and perform inspections on various projects including:

•Erosion and sediment control.

•Provide engineering support to the COR on the Electro Optics Night Vision (EONV) construction/renovation project.

•Provide support to the COR on other construction/renovation projects.

•Provide support to other CORs that have oversight over service projects.

•Other duties as assigned that are not government in nature.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Five (5) years of experience working as an Engineering Technician.

Experience in IT networking, infrastructure and communications systems.

B. S. or higher in Engineering Technology.

Two (2) years of experience as a project manager.
