Growing company in the Roanoke area has a need for a EHS Manager. This is a full time position with a full benefits package.

This position will manage and enforce corporate safety and health policies and procedures; establish and maintain compliance with all safety, health and environmental laws and regulations issued by federal, state, and local agencies. Set and review the safety and health guidelines in order to minimize the risk of injuries and accidents.

Manages the company's injury, occupational illness, safety observation and incident collection system; receives accident reports from locations; investigates all occupational illnesses, injuries and accidents to identify root cause and implement appropriate corrective actions.


Develops compliance policy and training, and provides policy oversight and communication to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and internal company policy;

Recommends policy changes;

Develop, review, and enforce corporate and site-specific safety policies and procedures - success achieved by: active site visits; analyzing safety risks; championing a behavior based safety system;

Making recommendations for corrective or preventative measures;

Coaching leadership on how to create a behavior based Safety Culture at their locations;

Develops, manages and administers the Occupational Safety and Health Program;

Works closely with management team in formulating safety and health rules, regulations, policies and procedures;

Conducts safety audits and inspections of all site and office locations;

Proactively identifies unsafe conditions and unsafe acts/behaviors and develops appropriate responses to them;

Facilitates company safety leadership safety teams and projects;

Develops implements and administers written policies and procedures designed to ensure compliance with the provisions of applicable federal state occupational safety laws and regulations (e.g. OSHA, MSHA, DOT);

Develops and implements drug testing procedures as required by federal regulations;

Maintains confidentiality of financial information, insurance and litigation documents, employee information (e.g. wage information, discipline, health information) and other sensitive and confidential information;

Supervises Safety Specialist position

All other duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety/Human Resources, Engineering or related field required;

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in occupational safety/risk capacity required;

Construction environment experience preferred;

Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Solid working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA & DOT regulations.

High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation;

Individual must possess a questioning mind and the ability to think independently. Ability to challenge situations in a constructive manner and present reasonable alternatives.

Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses;

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential;

Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures;

Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels;

Knowledge of communication and public relation techniques;

Ability to develop and deliver presentations;

Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel;

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
