Job description:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for assisting in the coordination and execution of health and safety programs, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory agency environmental policies and procedures. These responsibilities include implementation and oversight of projects in response to EHS concerns as well as implementation of health and safety programs in all areas including but not limited to; regulatory/environmental compliance, health and safety awareness, incident investigations, inspections, training and incident response.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of environmental, health and safety for field operations in assigned area

Coordinates with operations teams and EHS leadership to identify needs and ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations

Perform environmental testing and oversee remediation work as necessary

Provide training, support and technical assistance to field staff

Support incident investigations and agency reporting

Support development and implementation of the health and safety aspects of environmental management information system

Qualifications:

Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a safety or environmental related discipline preferred

Five (5) or more years of experience supporting safety and compliance in the oil and gas industry

Strong experience with field operations in oil/gas (drilling, completions)

Familiarity with oilfield equipment and terminology

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of applicable OSHA, API and EPA standards as they relate to oil & gas

Effective oral and written communication skills

Ability to develop and deliver training to large groups

Bottom Line Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in a safety or environmental related discipline preferred.
