Job description:

Purpose of Position

Ensure the efficiency and productivity of the service and repair operations through proper part sourcing and supply. Maintain the right mix and level of stock of all parts. Develop and maintain good relationships with all vendors.

Qualifications & Responsibilities

* Excellent communication, sales and writing skills via phone and email.

* Professional, self-directed problem solving skills in a fast paced environment.

* The part manger is responsible for all of the daily activity in the parts department.

o This responsibility includes but is not limited to, a dedication to the company's mission statement, to employee development and growth, to company performance and 100% customer satisfaction.

* All shop staff is required to have a pair of pliers, and railroad approved pocket knife on them at all times.

* They are also required to have their personal safety equipment readily available at all times (safety glasses, railroad approved steel toed shoes, hard hat, ear protection, etc.).

o They are expected to utilize these items in good judgment concerning their safety and the safety of others in the shop building.

* Safety and a safe work environment is the responsibility of all staff members.

* Maintain a sufficient inventory of fast moving parts to maximize efficiency and productivity

* Source quality parts at the best price

* Review parts requests from Service Manger & source accordingly

* Secure parts from parts requests forms

* Secure price and availability of parts on parts requests forms if such noted

* Notify Service manager and service writers of any delay in receiving parts via email

* Maintain an accurate parts on order list

* Return wrong parts or cores within 1 week

* Ensure proper credit is received from vendor within a week of return

* Label parts received for techs to attach label to time sheets

* Stage received parts in staging area

* Notify Service manager and service writers when parts are staged via email

* Reorder stocking parts from completed PO's

* Attend morning meetings with techs

* Provide technical assistance to parts department team members and other departments as needed

* The parts department is responsible for taking weekly inventory of staged parts and reporting back to the Service Manager

* Hire, train, motivate and monitor the performance of all parts department team members

* Direct and schedule the activities of all parts department team members

* Lead by example at all times

* Keep parts receiving area and stocking area clean and organized

* All team members will be subject to random drug testing as part of a pool of drivers

* All parts department team members are required to have a valid driver's license

* Certification of Violations - a record of any citations or convictions in the last year.

A Certificate of Violations will need to be filled out every time you receive or are convicted of a traffic violation &/or receive a citation. You must notify your supervisor immediately and get a form from the office.

* Source quality parts in a timely manner and communicate these have been received and are ready to install

DOT Requirements

* All employees must meet DOT requirements.

* Valid Driver's License.

* Certification of Violations - a record of any citations or convictions in the last year.

A Certificate of Violations will need to be filled out every time you receive or are convicted of a traffic violation &/or receive a citation. You must notify your supervisor immediately and get a form from the office.

* DOT Physical - every 2 years unless specified otherwise by the doctor.

* DOT Inspection form is required to be current & in every service truck.

* Daily Log - turn into the office with your trip sheet.

* Post Inspection forms.

* Pre-trip Inspection of vehicle.

* All employees will be subject to random drug testing as part of a pool of drivers.

Bottom Line Requirements:

1. 3+ years of experience with parts for heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, trucks and related.

2. Inventory management experience.
