Duties, including but not limited to:

-Assists physicians with patient care; properly fits and applies pre-operative braces, crutches, and other soft goods; assists in preparation for and application of casts and orthopedic appliances; changes dressings; removes sutures, casts, and splints.

-Maintains clean and well-stocked cast and soft goods room; orders special supplies and/or equipment.

-Remains current with orthopedic trends, care and supplies; performs other duties as assigned.

-Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.

-Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight and blood pressure. Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Completion of the following:

-High school diploma or equivalent


-Must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant or basic orthopedic course. Must have knowledge of fundamentals of anatomy and physiology; principles of asepsis and sterile techniques.

-Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist/assistant program is mandatory for those applicants hired to fulfill both clinic and operating room duties to include scrubbing and circulating.

Experience: Candidates must have the following experience:

-Minimum of One (1) years of related experience in an accredited health care hospital. The Orthopedic Technician must have at least 12 months experience within the past 24 months.

-Familiarity with and knowledge of hospital or clinic routines and procedures in orthopedics, including orthopedic trauma service, pediatrics, hand, foot and ankle, sports, and/or spine.


-National Background Investigation

-Authorized to work in US

-Must have reliable transportation to and from work site

License/Certification and Training:

-Maintain a national certification by American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP) or National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists. (NBCOT)

-Basic Life Support from American Heart Association


-Monday to Friday

-6:30 AM to 5:30 PM

-Shift Varies; 40 hours per week
