We are seeking an experienced leader with a passion for Data Warehouse Development, Data Analysis and Data Modeling. As Senior Database Development Engineer, the ideal candidate brings proven leadership experience and the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative and fast-paced work environment. We need a strategic and tactical leader to develop, improve and enforce best practice processes and plans, which impact both product quality and project on time delivery. This is a hands-on, analytical and technical role, requiring strong leadership experience and comprehensive SQL Server expertise in business data analysis, design and project quality assurance, preferably with Public Pension Management or Financial Services systems background.


The Senior Database Development Engineer provides strong technical, analytical and presentation skills to lead and actively participate in enterprise projects. Responsible for the security, integrity, performance and availability of enterprise-wide data. Serves as senior team member on the Database Administration team. Consults with project teams, management and business partners on the different aspects of data management and database design, and provides Data Warehouse and Reporting Analytics support accordingly. The position may involve working on multiple concurrent deadline-driven projects. Directly responsible for designing and implementing databases, ETL routines, cubes and reports The SQL Server Database Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Engineers and Management during all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, and will ensure deadlines are met and output is of the highest quality.

• Partnering and collaborating with stakeholders in order to meet business and customer expectations for quality, scope and schedule

• Design and build normalized and denormalized database solutions using industry best practices for data warehousing. This will involve Microsoft SQL Server Database programming (stored

• procedures and database design)

• Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations

• Design and build ETL routines

• Create exception reporting

• Build and maintain summary structures

• Create and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services and MDX

• Optimize database schemas, queries, cubes and reports

• Implement complex business logic requirements

• Data analysis to verify solutions are correct

• Database partitioning, archiving and purging

• Implement new technology, plug-ins and APIs

• Supporting and leading database project efforts across the agency by preparing and working with disparate teams in the delivery of business information and data needs

• Windows server 2012 and 2016, and Active Directory experience

• Database Performance Monitoring, Tuning and Optimization experience

• Data Warehouse environment support experience

• SSAS data warehouse design and development experience

• SSRS, SSAS and ETL administration and development experience

• Data modeling and database design experience

• Development of T-SQL and stored procedures experience

• SQL profiler experience, troubleshooting and rectifying inefficient T-SQL experience

• Ability to organize and plan work independently experience

• Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams experience

• SQL Server Master Data Service experience

• Power BI experience

• PowerShell, Unstructured Data and Big Data experience

• Logical and physical database modeling utilizing Erwin or similar tool experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary)

1. Bachelor degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

2. Minimum of 8 years of SQL Server experience in complex software applications.

3. Collaborative but decisive personal style; highly effective communicator and problem solver; team player

4. Experience with developing and driving systems data analysis and design processes

5. Must be an excellent communicator and able to produce clear and concise documentation at the detail and summary level

6. Comprehensive knowledge and experience with public or private pension management or financial systems definition, design and implementation.Experience with Agile software development methodology
