Job Duties:

Follow all applicable instructions when collecting blood samples from patients.

Accession patients and perform all processes involved thereof.

Practice proper patient identification as outlined by the accrediting agencies.

Properly label vials with labels containing patient identification, date and time of collection.

Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient

Transport specimen samples to the back of the laboratory for testing/shipping.

Centrifuge blood samples if this is allowed.

Work with large numbers of patients varying in age and health status.

Practice infection control standards at all times.

Present and maintain a professional appearance.

Inventory and stock supplies for Central Operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Completion of the following:

High School Equivalent/GED and completion of a Donor Phlebotomy program accredited by The Joint Commission or CAP

Graduate from an academic course of Phlebotomy that includes 120 didactic hours (or required by state law)

Experience: Candidates must have the following experience:

Laboratory: Completed 1040 hours as a Phlebotomy Technician within the pas three (3) years & must have performed 50 successful venipuncture and 10 successful skin punctures.

Security:

National Background Investigation

Must be a US Citizen

Must have reliable transportation to and from work site

License/Certification and Training:

Possess and maintain Phlebotomy Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)

Must have certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), or from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or equivalent certification.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Schedule:

Monday to Friday

7:00 AM to 4:15 PM
