Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Welder (MIG & TIG) to fabricate components and parts using hand-welding equipment, flame-cutting, hand soldering or brazing equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn and weld or join metal components and other materials or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products at our facilities or construction sites. You will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure.

A Welder (MIG & TIG) must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. Must maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to organizational standards and policies, and legal regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.


- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures

- Determining the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements

- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)

- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces

- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)

- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws and ensure all standards and specifications have been met

- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

- Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, fingering, grasping, feeling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently push, pull, lift or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and Experience

- High school diploma or GED diploma, or three to six months’ related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Education and Experience

- Proven experience as welder

- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (MIG, TIG, etc.)

- Experience in using gas tungsten metal arc welders

- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)

- Ability to weld a variety of materials including mild steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel and aluminum

- Ability to read and interpret technical documents / drawings and perform basic math calculations using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)

- Knowledge of welding symbols and arc, plasma and flame cutting

- Deftness and attention to detail

- Proficient in English

- Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program

- Certificate received from trade school

- Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus
