Process Stamping Engineer

MUST be willing to travel extensively to China and other facilities in North America.

In-depth understanding of tooling and gages relating to stamping and assembly.

Ability to manage multiple products and tasks as required to meet demanding customer deadlines

Candidate should be team oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills

Must be self-motivated and goal oriented

Strong understanding of stamping processes (progressive and transfer) as well as general assembly.

Problem solving - anticipate and resolve tooling issues that place on-time delivery of early parts, production launch or put production at risk

5+ years of relevant experience minimum at an automotive stamping environment.

Journeyman Tool and Die maker credentials OR 4 year degree in a pertinent field. Experience in lieu of qualifications will be considered.

RESPONSIBIITIES:

Manage tooling suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of tooling. Ensure all aspects of the tool creation process, including the design, construction, trials, qualification and maintenance plans, meet specifications

Responsible for continuous improvement of manufacturing methods and process/design changes to facilitate increased profit potential and cost reductions

Schedules and meets with Product engineering to determine areas of product improvement by review and analysis in a team format.

Review and approve metal forming simulation to ensure parts are feasible for the tooling process.

Assist in the design and development of stamping tooling including but not limited to strip layouts, die construction and press specifications.

Assist in the design and build of transfer bars and fingers for new tooling.

Track and report progress of tooling programs from sourcing to a production ready state.

Assist in the development and updating of tooling program timelines.

Assist in the development of tooling standards.

Assist in development and improvement of current and new tooling sources.

Other duties as assigned by the Process Engineering Supervisor.
