Our customer located in Farmington Hills, MI is seeking an Engineering Manager (Seats) for a direct hire position.

The salary range for this position is dependent upon level of experience.

Job Summary

Responsible for managing engineering team and design projects.

Essential Functions

• Manage employee work and assign projects to team members based on project scope and skill level.

• Mentor and develop team members. Provide feedback and redirect behavior to maximize employee contributions.

• Direct employees on base design and proposal in accordance with customer’s demands / requests.

• Create frame of base design and proposal and instruct subordinate.

• Review layout using CAD based on Japanese OEM design layout.

• Instruct subordinates on content of base design and the points of plan drawing.

• Review drawings: on proposal drawing, parts drawing, assembly drawing, assembly step drawing, and color chart drawing.

• Give instruction and advice to subordinates to ensure the highest quality level in design and drawing.

• Decide structure against specification by customer.

• Check contents of specification drawings, proposal drawing, parts drawing, assembly drawing, color chart drawing, assemble step drawing and parts information drawing. Give direction and advice on content and instruction to subordinate.

• Attend design review meetings, FMEA, production system check meetings, and other valuation meetings to state opinion.

• Direct and advise subordinates on design review. Proceed DR meeting, FMEA, production system check meeting.

• Maintain detail development reports.

• Negotiate with vendors and/or customers.

• Manage TeamCenter.

• Assist in other areas as required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master’s Degree is preferred.

• Minimum of 10+ years of non-seat related mechanical engineering experience.

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience with seating or seat-related components is preferred.

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience with UG-NX, including 2D, 3D, Solids, and Advanced Surfacing.

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience managing employees.

• Must be a detail-oriented self-starter, with direct hands-on experience.
