The purpose of this position is to initiate and service their Employee Health and Benefit Consulting and Brokerage services to include their Private Exchange. While successful Producing Consultants will be supported in a team servicing environment, Producing Consultants will be expected to serve as Lead Consultant on those clients that they produce in the 100 – 5,000 employee segment. As such, Producing Consultants will need to demonstrate a proven track record in helping clients to manage the cost, design, compliance and administration of their employer-sponsored Health and Benefit Plans.

Initiating New Client Opportunities

Identify, qualify and sell new client engagements with target organizations to achieve or exceed annual produced revenue goal (revenue from a sold engagement), focusing on:

Building effective and collaborative relationship with the key decision-makers within the target organizations

Participating in sales demonstrations of their proprietary products

Conducting a minimum number of face to face meetings with prospects

Organizing and executing a multi-faceted sales plan such as cold-calling, phone, fax, email and mail campaigns, to effectively make direct contact with prospects

Participating in professional organizations and informal networks to develop, build and sustain a network to obtain prospects, as well as utilizing Mercer’s prospect database to identify and research potential organizations

Organizing and executing marketing seminars and roundtables in order to identify and engage targets and build the their brand in the marketplace

Maintaining an adequate pipeline to ensure revenue targets are met

Understanding the short and long-term needs and challenges of targets and how the Mercer value proposition and industry best practices can solve their problems, improve their competitive position and move their business forward

Servicing Existing Clientele

Leads complex client engagements, including managing overall service delivery, strategy, financials evaluation, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking and other studies.

Act as a relationship manager and lead consultant for own book of business comprised of Health and Benefits Consulting / Brokerage plus sold private exchange clients, including:

Ongoing contact with clients, including attending substantive client meetings

Provide ongoing technical advice and guidance around the cost, design, compliance and administration of client’s employee benefit plan

Identifying opportunities to cross sell other lines of business and solutions

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary)

1. Must be a producing consultant with business development and sales skills.

2. Should have experience managing accounts, understanding plan designs.

3. Have experience working with the clients to develop marketing and enrollment materials.

4. Have experience managing about $1M book of business

5. Must have experience in the mid market.
