Major purpose:

Entry level position for the Dip Brazing and Chemical Cleaning department. Will be trained in the preparation, assembly, dip brazing and pressure testing of precision aluminum parts and assemblies utilizing military specifications, manufacturing work instructions or procedures. This will include but is not limited to; preparation, cleaning, assembling, dip brazing, heat treating and chem film coating of aluminum parts used in the manufacturing of airbourne radar antenna systems.

Major functions:

1. Performs chemical cleaning of parts in preparation for assembly, painting, dip brazing or chem film coating.

2. Will perform mechanical assembly on a multitude of different devices ranging from semi-routine simple assemblies to one off highly complex mechanical assembly.

3. Will heat treat parts and assemblies to the required temper per work instruction or procedure.

4. Does inprocess inspection, documents results, maintains records, to ensure fabricated parts meet drawing re¬quirements.

5. Performs pressure and salt testing of brazed assemblies as required.

6. Cleaning of assemblies and parts after brazing or heat treating.

7. Maintains salt bath and chemical cleaning lines

8. Maintains a “6S Compliant work area”. This daily task is required of all shop employees.

9.Maintain full compliance with respect to all EH&S and safety requirements. Advise shop supervisor of any non-compliant issues immediately.

Technical/Functional skills:

Education/Experience/Licenses etc.:

Requires a high school diploma, an ability to do simple math and the knowledge to use a variety of hand tools, including sanders and grinders. Experience in precision mechanical assembly, brazing and or chemical cleaning is a plus but not required. The ability to read drawings (blueprints), operation sheets, and scales, is a plus but not required.

Additional Requirements:

• Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends.

• Able to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, push, reach and squat.

• Able to lift 50 pounds close to the body repetitively. (Employees need to ask for assistance and use material handling tools for lesser weight in awkward location and/or body positions and for any items over 50 pounds).

• Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands.

• Must have sufficient vision to see relative positions of small parts and able to discern symmetry and proper alignment.

• Based upon your job duties, and need to visit different areas within Randtron, you may be exposed to; fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment.

• Performs limited, intermittent physical exertion. Work environment may contain noise, dust, heat, or chemicals.

• Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

• May be required to obtain a Security Clearance.
