Strategy Manager - RT

Purpose Statement

Work with the Head of Strategy to support delivery of the strategy and planning agenda for Connected Home with particular ownership of the USA strategic and planning agenda

Accountabilities

Support delivery of all outputs for the strategic framework and strategic shape process relevant to Connected Homes’ USA participation

Partner with the Commercial Directors, USA. Work with their teams to support implementation of the participation strategy both within DE and other channels/ partners/ geographies

Deliver projects which require problem structuring, analysis and synthesis to deliver options for decision making

Help ensure that Connected Homes strategies in the USA dock with the Direct Energy and partner plans

Handle ad hoc requests and projects

Develop a deep understanding of the Connected Homes sector and market context in the USA and build strong external relationships

Dimensions of Role

– Supports building of the strategic framework, priorities and shape (1-5 years) for Connected Home with particular focus on the USA

– Challenges and helps shape the functional strategies of the business

– No direct full-time people management responsibilities but significant senior stakeholder responsibilities

Working Relationships

Effective partnering with Centrica and Direct Energy Strategy teams to ensure alignment with CH

Work with external agents / partners / distributers in new geographies within USA

Management teams of Centrica and Direct Energy

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with other functional groups within Centrica

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Understanding of the Centrica Group, the consumer technology market in USA, residential and SME energy retail (highly preferable) and global trends in consumer adoption of technology, particularly in the energy vertical

2. Understanding of the consumer trends, competitive landscape, market environment and policy, technology and business model evolution across the value chain globally and in local markets

3. 5 years’ experience in supporting senior business leaders in assessing their strategic context and providing decision oriented analysis and recommendations. Experience with a top-tier strategy consultant or the strategy function of a blue-chip corporate will be preferred

4. Proven analytical track record

5. Experience of working in high-performing teams and engaging multiple stakeholders

6. Experience of working under pressure within a fast-paced environment

7. Experience developing structured communications and storylining

8. Track record of delivering projects, presentations, or reports for senior management
