Position Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include glass handling and fabrication for the distribution and manufacturing of our many glass products. See the specific tasks included as listed below. Scope is inclusive for both will- call and truck delivered products. Utilizing handling equipment provided this position will pull inventory, measure, cut to size, stage and ready glass for fabrication, insulated unit assembly, or cut to size from stock orders. All fabricators will share fabrication responsibilities and be crossed trained to assist or substitute duties with one another. The fabricator should be able to read the work orders and glass labels. Finally a concerted effort shall be made to provide for the best quality product with each and every.

Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


• Knowledge of fabrication process – Pride in execution and final product

• Implement the work within your area (cutting, washing, sealing, and troweling)

• Manage production efficiency in the most cost effective manner

• Material usage. Always select stock sheet sizes to best provide for optimal usage

• Properly store and organize cutoffs. Select from Fall off when possible

• Cut from patterns or glass tickets special shapes as required

• Check all patterns and spacer tickets for spacer and muntin requirements

• Properly stage in Setup area all spacers and muntins for daily production

• Ensure all glass handling and build procedures are being followed, Take no shortcuts

• Obtain and evaluate the proper surface for tinted glass and Low E glass in assembly

• Properly stage w/labels all tempered and annealed cut glass at washer

• Perform regular service/maintenance all equipment as needed

• Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


• Maintain and insure with all work a high degree of Quality in Final product

• Maintain and insure with all work a high degree of integrity. No call backs

• When cutting and cleaning reject and rerun – Advise Supervisor of rejection


• Places high priority on safety especially when running equipment or handling glass

• Put no employee or yourself at risk when working. Always wear protective gear


• Learn and understand units of measure. Be able to perform general mathematical calculations

• Create opened and honest communication with manager and fellow fabricators

• Complete timecard accurately and timely

• Self-motivated and a quick learner

• Read and use a tape measure

• Pursue personal development and knowledge to grow in advancement positions

Education and/or Experience:

Level 1: Prior experience or training in metal or glass and glazing shop. Experience should include build and installation.

Level 2: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Level 1: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:


Mathematical Skills

Level 1: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using fractions or decimal equivelants.

Level 2: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to draw and document build drawings showing “AS BUILT” conditions.

Reasoning Ability

Level 1: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Technical/Computer Skills:

• Understanding and usage of all glass shop equipment

• Must be organized and able to prioritize to meet deadlines

• Must be able to adjust to continuous change, deal with ambiguity at times
