Position Information:

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Special Working Conditions: Some night and weekend work needed for student activities. Some travel.

Salary Range and Max Salary

The salary range for this classification is: $3,935 - $5,595 monthly.

The maximum salary budgeted for this position by the department is $4,600 monthly.

Conditions of Employment

The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate is required to complete a background check prior to assuming this position.

Possession of a valid Driver's License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.

Department Marketing Statement

Department: Graduate and Professional Programs/CBAPP

The College of Business Administration and Public Policy (CBAPP) consists of three business departments (accounting/finance/economics, information systems/logistics, management/marketing) and the department of public administration (public administration/criminal justice administration). The College also has a self support online transfer bachelor major applied studies. The College offers two graduate degrees, an MBA and MPA, both in self support and stateside. The MPA program is accredited by NASPAA.

Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Recruitment Counselor performs duties related to the recruitment and enrollment of graduate and professional students to CSUDH CBAPP under the supervision of the Assistant Dean and with direction from the Admission Analyst/Lead. A significant component of this role is to meet prospective students and their families/support systems to provide information about enrollment and admission; these interactions will occur in individual and/or group settings, in person or on-phone. The incumbent must be familiar with admissions policies and requirements in order to communicate these requirements and assess a students eligibility clearly, correctly and effectively. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the collection and follow-up of applicant materials to graduate and self-support programs. This position will be responsible for communicating and following established policies especially for international students.

Qualifications

Required Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis

Required Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A Masters degree in a job related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

Responsibilities

45% - Recruitment for Applied Studies Program

Provide information to incoming students in the Applied Studies program about all aspects of the enrollment cycle, including but not limited to:

- Application process, admission requirements, financial aid process, enrollment process and post-secondary options.

- Communicate to a diverse student population the program admission requirements.

- Represent the University both on- and off-campus to prospective students, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.

- Plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned organizations or universities, including local travel.

- Evaluate and oversee application processing including collecting application materials.

- Liaison with staff in the College of Extended Education and University Admission and Records on applicant behalf.

- Advise prospective students on curriculum qualifications.

- Update website information for Applied Studies in accordance to processes and policies within the University.

- Maintain prospective information and develop relationships to enroll incoming undergraduate students.

- Utilize CRM and Oracle databases to develop strategic communication work flow.

- Provide status reports on applicant progress during the admission cycle.

35% - Strategy and Communication Coordination

Coordinate with Admission Analyst lead with the following:

- Developing relationships within the University and external community members to recruit and retain students.

- Assist in the development and delivery of on-campus events and programs for counseling groups and individuals.

- Coordinate the ongoing strategic communications with prospective students, including email, print, and other media.

- Seek, enroll, and coordinate the registration and travel logistics of recruitment visits.

10% - Graduate Programs Recruitment:

Provide information to incoming students in the MBA/MPA/Certificate programs in the enrollment cycle and provide secondary assistance to the Admission Lead.

10% - Other duties as assigned.
