Position Summary: To provide professional knowledge and expertise, overall coordination and implementation of all safety programs to assure compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Interfaces with regulatory agencies, committee members and staff to formulate corrective actions.

* Designs safety training for all levels of employees. Ensures personnel training and corrective action follow-up is completed.

* Develops and implements accident investigation, data analysis, prevention programs and procedures.

* Conducts on-site reviews and audits of operations and facilities.

* Monitors all current information on regulations and requirements related to hazardous

materials and agents.

* Directs industrial hygiene, occupational and general safety programs to ensure a safe environment and comply with safety standards.

* Investigates and evaluates new safety equipment for appropriateness.

* Annotating and keeping accurate records are a must. All records are kept to analyze safety procedures, accidents and mishaps and are used not only as an investigative tool but as an audit tool as well. Ensure that a proper record management system is implemented and maintained within all regulations and guidelines.

* Responds and provides assistance to all emergency situations.

* Keep the management team informed of any safety and health related issues and or concerns identified within the respective scope of responsibility

* Be actively involved in the site's Workers Compensation program by attending regularly scheduled meetings, providing supporting documentation for claims, and assisting the Occupational Health Nurse/Third Party Administrator in effectively managing all open claims. Investigates all near misses, first aid cases, recordables, lost day injuries, and vehicular accidents within 24 hours as well as tracking closure on all recommendations.

* Be the sites liaison when outside agencies come on-site to conduct annual assessment (i.e. insurance carrier, local fire department, OSHA, EPA, ETC.

* Safety Reps reports directly to Safety Manager

* Performs other duties as required by a Manager.

Supervisory orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.


* Knowledge of federal, state, and local loss prevention regulations.

* Effective verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong Managerial, Interpersonal/Human Relations Skills.

* Planning/organizational skills.

* Ability to design, implement, and control a safety program.

* Ability to conduct safety inspections of all equipment.

* Bachelor's degree; supplemented with three (3) years of related experience or 7 years' actual experience.

* Must be 18 years of age and eligible to work in the US.

* Flexible work schedule which include some weekend work.

* Extensive knowledge in the areas of Workers Compensation, OSHA, DOT, etc. is essential.

* Excellent Computer skills.

* Bi-lingual capabilities would be a plus.

* Must be able to read, write and speak English.
