Factory Automation Engineer

• Leads in development and implementation of small to large Factory Automation (FA) solutions.

• Innovates and implements cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of moderate scope.

• Review of RFQ’s (Request for Quote) for new and modified equipment and ensure FA standards are followed.

• Develop BOM’s (Bill of Materials) for projects and gather quotes from suppliers.

Equipment Support

• Designs/updates electrical systems and prints for machines or shop floor tooling and equipment.

• Designs/updates human machine interfaces and PLC programs for machines or shop floor systems.

• Provide technical expertise for the integration and support of conveyance equipment (e.g. automated or manually guided vehicles, loaders, conveyors, drives, lifts, jibs, hoists, manipulators, etc.).

• Support of shop floor device connectivity (torque tools, test and verification equipment, vision systems, etc.).

Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Support

• Assist with MES configuration, and testing.

• Support integration (installation and networking) of shop floor equipment and tooling into MES and PLCs.

Data Management

• Configuration of device and system communications for PLC connectivity.

• Development and support of shop floor visualization solutions, such as machine health metric displays and production status dashboards.

• Management of database structures and data records.

• Support business owners in analyzing machine data.

Tier 2 Shop Floor Support

• Provide daily support for urgent production issues, including root cause analysis and resolution.

• Communicate lessons learned and common issue resolution with Unit Tier I/II support.


• Generate and maintain user manuals, knowledge videos, and on-screen help links for FA Solutions.

• Generate and maintain reports required to support management of equipment.


Engineering/Technology degree or equivalent work experience

5+ years’ working experience in Factory Automation

Will need metatarsals for first day. Business casual dress code
