Our client located in Livonia, MI is seeking a Quality Warranty Engineer for a direct hire position.

Job Description:

Lead analysis of warranty returns from the customer, write reports and close issues with customers. Responsible to work directly with customers from initial contact of a return through final closure which meets the customer timing and expectations. Use standard and customized test equipment to analyze and determine the failure mode of product returned by customers. Utilize customer vehicle software and communication protocols in order to identify customer fault codes and gather other data needed to aid the analysis process. Work with Manufacturing, Quality, Design, Process Engineering and Supplier Quality teams to obtain and document containment actions, root cause(s) and corrective action(s). Proactively work to minimize overall analysis time and disposition of suspect material. Lead in the development of new test equipment, fixtures, software and other tools needed for present and future designs. Create, gather, maintain, and analyze data from our company and customer databases/web portals as required. Communicate results to internal and external customers with charts, graphs and summaries. Participate in warranty review meetings (internal/external). Write and deliver accurate, clear and concise analysis reports and presentations on time.

Education Requirements:

BS Degree in Engineering or other Concentration

Experience and Skill Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years related work experience in component-level electronics troubleshooting and customer interface.

• Solid electronics failure analysis experience.

• Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints and technical information supplied by engineering, customers, and others.

• Understanding of vehicle communication bus architecture, communication protocols, and fault codes including oscilloscope, multi-meter, and other standard test equipment.

• Excellent technical writing skills, ability to write and deliver technical presentations.

• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and other web-based software.

• Basic soldering and electronics fabricating skills.
