Working under minimal supervision of the Director, Business Systems, referring only exceptional problems and issues for management review or approval, the Progress Technical Lead designs, develops, tests and deploys Enterprise and E-Commerce related applications, order fulfillment systems and services using Linux/Progress/4GL technologies. The Progress Technical Lead serves as a lead on the development team.

The Lead defines and documents technical framework and best practices for the development team.

Duties:

70% of time Application, Systems and Services Development

Designs, develops, implements and tests Enterprise and E-Commerce related applications, order fulfillment systems and services using Linux/Progress/4GL technologies

Collaborates with other engineers, developers, analysts and business team members.

Develops AppServer Service modules to expose centralized business logic

Assists DBA with trigger definitions and programming

Fixes defects and resolve issues

Follows defined policies, processes and procedures

25% Technical Leadership

Leads, defines, and documents technical framework and best practices for development team.

Mentors and supports team members as well as support of development initiatives

Works with end-users, customers and other stakeholders to understand the business needs and functional requirements.

Develops software specification and other documentations

Defines and implements Software Development Best Practices

Mentors development team for improved capabilities and performance

Mentors and coaches less experienced development staff.

Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and supports existing applications, databases and systems.Works with Application Architect to implement the road-map for long term re-architecture of applications and ensure the development teams are properly aligned to the strategy, standards, and framework.

Required Skills:

BS in Computer Science, MIS or Engineering

Certifications, Licenses or Registrations required, if any:

Minimum years of career experience to qualify for role: 8

Includes a minimum of 6 year(s) of work experience in progressively responsible roles in enterprise application deployment and support with Progress 4GL, SQL 92, OpenEdge and OpenEdge/ABL

Requires 10 of work experience
