Job Description:

• Work as a Cloud engineer on one of the world’s largest in-house private OpenStack clouds

• Assist the team with triaging Operating System, OpenStack, Platform, and IaaS/PaaS issues, and other server-related issues, to ensure that our enterprise-wide hardware tech refresh stays on schedule

• Assist the team with triaging Operating System, OpenStack, Platform, and IaaS/PaaS issues, and other server-related issues, to ensure that our security patching stays on schedule

• Work proactively on defects and develop automation to create innovative solutions to fix them at scale

• Help with documentation efforts to improve usability

DAY TO DAY and PROJECT WORK-

• All projects are Linux- and OpenStack-related-Our production applications will sit on top of the OpenStack/Cloud architectureProject work includes:--assisting with tech refresh and ensuring server/OS-level issues are resolved in a timely manner--assisting with OS security patching and ensuring server/OS-level issues are resolved in a timely manner--actively deploying/developing tooling to monitor and prevent/automate break/fix for tech refresh--Operations responsibilities include: troubleshooting service failures; responding to VM and operating systems issues; proactively identifying automation errors and resolving with improved automation

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience programming/scripting in one or more of the following: Perl, Python, Shell, Ruby, or Java (Python is preferred)

• 7+ years advanced-level experience with Linux engineering and administration

• 2+ years hardware troubleshooting and remote lights-out management (Dell DRAC, Client ILO, etc)

• Solid understanding of software development fundamentals

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work as a member of a large, distributed and diverse team

• Capacity for learning new technologies and skills rapidly is key

• Advanced-level experience with compute, networking, and storageResponsibilities that the resource will be responsible for?

• On a daily basis, this resource will identify VM and baremetal deletion or provisioning failures and through troubleshooting, identify blocking issues, and fully resolve any underlying issues.

• Linux OS Troubleshooting (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)

• Hands-on Cloud operations experience (OpenStack)• DevOps or OpsDev experience with intermediate proficiency in at least one language (Perl, Python, Shell, Ruby, or Java)What are the soft skills that you believe candidates must possess to be successful in this position?

• Ability to quickly identify and build relationships with dependency owners• Good communication skills, both written and verbal• Ability to work as a member of a large, distributed and diverse team
