Immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant reporting to the Associate Director in Information Research. This role has primary responsibility for office administration, management and leadership of administrative processes and systems to support the Associate Director.


Provide full administrative support to director and staff, including calendaring, meeting management, development of presentations. Responsibilities include effective advance planning, meeting preparation, meeting and travel arrangements, and frequent re-juggling when conflicts occur. Must be able to work out solutions to daily scheduling challenges and work collaboratively with multiple other administrative professionals who are also managing very complex and demanding schedules. Requires decisions on the need for various meetings, appropriate duration and overall timing, or redirecting as appropriate. Several meetings are also with Dow's R&D Leadership team, as well as external committees.

• Detailed travel management, both domestic and international, including managing passports and visas, etc.

• Prepare and respond to internal and external correspondence (e.g., emails, external letters, PowerPoint presentations and speaking preparations). This position is relied upon to take appropriate actions in the absence of the Leader. This involves screening and prioritizing correspondence and telephone calls which require responding to inquiries, both verbal and written, that do not require the Leader's attention.

• Extreme confidentiality with restricted Dow and non-Dow business information as well as personnel information. Assist with personnel matters and requirements in managing the leader's direct reports.

• Complete major projects in support of the organization.

• Serve as Capital Project Manager for all capital projects in IR. This includes opening all projects, tracking spending and closing projects.

• Ability to work under the pressures of a fast turn-around and the highest quality expectations.

• Multiple routine "background" duties: manage file shares, IT workgroup contact, office space and equipment focal point, preparing travel expense reports and approving TERs, records management, etc.
