Maintenance Technician REPORTS TO Maintenance Supervisor TIME REQUIREMENT (for this level) NOTE: Maintenance supervisor has discretion to adjust a team member's time requirements in this level.
However, team members must meet all skill requirements for this level before advancing to the next level.
POSITION SUMMARY Under direct supervision, performs a variety of major and minor repair work including but not limited to: spindle bearings, shafts, gears, motors, clutches, brakes, lubrication systems, pumps, cams, minor and major machine rebuilds, adjustments, and trouble shooting.
Team member is also responsible for suggesting continuous improvement and cost savings opportunities.
PREREQUISITES LEVEL 1 * Safety training including training in the importance of machine guarding and safety equipment.
* Knowledge of the lock out/tag out procedure.
* Knowledge of plant and environmental safety concepts.
* Supports Seaway's emphasis of the team concept.
* Proper lifting techniques.
* Orientation * Knowledge of mechanical systems.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES * Performs the following operations safely: welding, cutting, brazing, grinding, drilling, and tapping and general use of small hand tools.
* Possesses tow motor driver's license before operating tow motor.
* Follows instructions given by senior team members on variety of preventative maintenance and machine related issues.
* Maintains machine tools and equipment in a safe, operating condition for production team members and is always mindful of potential safety hazards.
* Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
* Performs minor mechanical, plumbing and electrical repairs to building as required and identifies major repairs needed.
* Able to properly use and maintain gages.
* Documents any minor maintenance performed in PLEX.
* Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork as a team member.
* Knows who to go to when a problem arises.
* Able to read and interpret mechanical blueprints.
* Knowledge and application of all plant and environmental safety concepts.
* Follows ISO9001/IATF16949 procedures relative to maintenance.
* Performs other duties and assignments as requested by the maintenance supervisor.
* Grounds & building maintenance including lawn cutting, trimming, racking, shoveling, dissing removal of weeds etc.
* Light janitorial: re-stock, clean & maintain common areas of the facility, including restrooms.
* Flexibility to move within the facility to work in rework.
Sorting or cleaning of product.
* Trained on minor electrical troubleshooting (i.e., fuse changes, continuity checks…) * Under direct supervision, performs minor mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on the following machines: headers, conveyors, roll thread machine, part washers, air compressors, vibratory feed systems and other machinery as required.
* Set up and removal of machine related tooling & fixturing used to complete repairs on machinery.
This may include climbing, lifting, pulling and the use of a ladder.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED * High school diploma or GED equivalent * 1-2 years' experience * Mechanical aptitude PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lifting and transferring of a variety of materials weighing up to forty pounds.
