Job description:

Utilizing a PC and various creative software creates 3D package designs from drawings and /or other specifications to create thermoform tooling.

Primary Duties:

Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.

Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal.

Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.

Plans and develops experimental test programs. Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.

Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.

Confers with research and other engineering personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design, and prepares design modifications as required.

Other Duties:

Ability to resolve problems and develop designs.

Ability to handle multiple projects at same time.

Ability to support paperboard design to include:

* Designs paperboard packaging for manufacturing.

* Creates original one up designs, (typically fabricates model in paper).

Minimum Educational Level:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience:

Must have working knowledge of designing in 3D using AutoCad (computer aided design) software and programming using SmartCam and/or Delcam, or equivalent CAM (computer aided manufacturing) software.

Prefer experience in Thermoforming and Packaging Industries, experience with thermoform tooling assemblies and working knowledge of total quality management

Bottom Line Requirements:

1. 2+ years of experience in 3D design using AutoCAD and programming using SmartCam, Delcam, or equivalent CAM software.

2. Experience in Thermoforming and Packaging Industries preferred.
