Directs the staff and programs of the emergency services unit. Develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for emergency service programs. Ensures quality care for patients. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to top management. $12,000 BONUS!

The job description and criteria based job performance evaluation emphasizes the criteria expected in the performance of the Emergency Department Director. The Director is responsible for the provision of patient care, utilizing the nursing process as a framework. The Director is also responsible for organizing and managing equipment and supplies, providing educational opportunities, and participating in the ongoing budgetary process. The Director works closely with the medical staff, as well as other professional staff, ancillary department members, visitors and families.


Requires a bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of experience in the field. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

National certifications in your specialty preferred


License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas

BCLS required (current at time of hire)/maintained throughout term of employment

ACLS preferred/must have current ACLS to be a Charge Nurse /maintained throughout term of employment

PALS or ENPC preferred / must have current PALS or ENPC to be a Charge Nurse / maintained throughout employment

TNCC preferred / must have current TNCC to be a Charge Nurse / maintained throughout employment

Previous Cardiac/Telemetry experience preferred

EKG Course preferred
