160611 Quality Engineer

Our customer located in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer for a direct hire position.

The salary range for this position is dependent upon level of experience.

Reports To

Plant Quality Assurance Supervisor


• Ensure quality of the products delivered to internal and external customers.

• Ensure quality of supplied materials in mass production.

• Ensure that processes are kept as defined.

• Minimize quality risks and prevent 0 km and Field claims.

• Minimize scrap rate and scrap costs.

• Foster internal relationships between Plant Quality Assurance, Global Quality Services, Production, E-Lab, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics, Advanced Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Assurance, Material Development, and Quality Management.

• Foster external relationships between Company and Customers, Suppliers, Development Partners, and Certification Bodies.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide support for product and process development activities.

• Provide support during internal and external audits.

• Audit production processes for compliance to quality standards.

• Maintain and develop plant quality documentation; ensure that documentation is compliant with the requirements of international standards.

• Identify potentials for improvement systematically and implement improvements by using common problem solving methods.

• Take over responsibility for handling of internal and external complaints.

• Release machine and tester specifications.

• Analyze scrap statistics; identify and implement potentials for improvement.

• Perform traceability and tester data analysis.

• Perform quality, health, and safety audits.

• Evaluate and develop SPC.

• Support information transfer from company Plant Quality to Global Quality Assurance.

• Ensure that processes are followed as defined, and improve the processes whenever beneficial for company, given that requirements are fulfilled according to international standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.

• Minimum of 2 years of automotive experience.

• Experience with automotive electronics and/or software products is strongly preferred.

• Must have good knowledge in automotive quality processes and quality tools.

• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Self-disciplined, with the ability to work independently.

• Initiative, team spirit, and pro-active attitude.

• Excellent Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills are required.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken). German and/or French language skills are a plus.

• Experience in Lean, 6 Sigma, and Project Management are a plus.

• Quality Auditor skills are a plus.
