Job Description:

The Center for Perinatal Medicine is seeking a prenatal genetic counselor to join a multidisciplinary team of 12 physicians. Genetic counseling services are provided in three locations, including the Atlanta, Alpharetta, and Forsyth, GA.

Genetic counseling responsibilities include:

Providing prenatal and preconception genetic counseling for a wide variety of indications including: advanced maternal age, positive serum screens, positive cell-free DNA screening, CVS, amniocentesis, ultrasound abnormalities, multiple miscarriages, and family histories of known or suspected genetic diseases.

Assisting with coordination and follow-up of all genetic screening and tests.

Providing timely response to physicians in clinic, over the phone, and through genetic counseling reports.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, sonographers, perinatologists, OB/GYNs, radiologist, and geneticists.

Traveling to outside offices within 25 miles of our main hospital in Atlanta

Addressing inquiries from providers and staff regarding patient health care management, as well as, routine day-to-day administrative duties.

Providing mentoring and supervision to genetic counseling students

Experience Required:

Established leadership, management, and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to be highly motivated and work independently

Management / Supervisory experience

Demonstrated leadership skills

Preferred: One (1) year of experience in genetics, genomics, or related field

Preferred: Board Certification in Genetic Counseling by the ABMG or ABGC Membership in a professional genetic counseling organization (if hired, will need to have certification w/in one year of employment).


Required: Master’s Degree from accredited Genetic Counseling training program (provisional accreditation acceptable/second year students in good standing may apply)

Licensure & Certifications Required:

Board Certification in Genetic Counseling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or (American Board of Medical Genetics or Genomics (ABMGG) is required within one year of employment
