Job Description:


We have an immediate opportunity for an Automation Engineer.

The Automation Engineer provides technical expertise to the Automation Department to meet or exceed customer requirements. This position is responsible for, but not limited to the design, development, programming, commissioning, and technical support of control systems for A&B Process Systems skidded equipment and large turn-key projects.


PLC programming for process control systems: Experience with Rockwell Software ControlLogix platform is required. Experience with other platforms such as Siemens is preferred, but not required.

HMI\SCADA\Batch system application development: Experience with Rockwell Software FT View Studio ME\SE is required. Experience with other application packages such as Wonderware and Intellution is preferred, but not required. Experience with VBA scripting and relational database configuration\management is also preferred.

Control Systems Experience: Knowledge of Process Control Instrumentation, Control Panel design, and Control System design is preferred.

Project Engineering and Management: Experience with maintaining Automation project costs is required. This also includes directly interfacing with customers to ensure that project scope and schedule are maintained, and change orders are created and issued when necessary.

Experience creating drawings utilizing AutoCAD Electrical version 15 or higher strongly preferred.

This position will allow candidates to develop custom and semi-standard process equipment control systems in an environment that promotes the use of common components and programming. Candidates are expected to perform a variety of tasks relying upon their judgment to plan and accomplish project goals while reporting to the Automation Manager. The position also provides the opportunity to enhance the Automation Team as a whole through shared technical knowledge and mentoring. Candidates must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.


Assists with and develops RFQ assignments with the Automation Estimators.

Provides technical support for the design, programming, commissioning and customer support of control systems for A&B Process skidded systems and large turn-key projects.

Monitors and updates project schedules in the Automation Department Schedule utilizing Microsoft Project 2010.

Works closely with the Panel Shop Lead to assist with projects and schedules in the Panel Shop.

Interfaces with customers as needed for sales pre-qualification, RFQs, and sold projects.

Assists in the interview selection process for open positions and training of new associate team members.

Assists in maintaining and follows Automation Engineering standards and SOPs to ensure a quality engineered product.

Implements and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

Coordinates with Estimating, Sales, Process Engineering, Production Planning as well as the shop floor on meeting requirements on budgets and timelines on all projects.

Provides project support for electrical testing, factory acceptance testing, and start-up and commissioning of skidded process control systems.

Provides documentation and training for the customer.

Performs duties as assigned by the Automation Engineering Manager.
