Job Description:

The Program Coordinator 6 – IERC Orders & Materials Specialist works in the Indiana Educational Resource Center (IERC) statewide depository and collaborates with the Indiana Center for Accessible Materials (ICAM).The Indiana Educational Resource Center provides educational materials in accessible formats for school-age students with visual impairments. This position manages the receipt, review, processing and distribution of web based orders, statewide, from the local school corporations for specialized accessible materials for students who are blind or have low vision in a timely manner, via the ICAM. Additionally this position will manage the web based annual inventory status reports within the ICAM and work closely with the IERC librarian to assist in the provision of accessible materials and the maintenance and organization of the statewide depository.


• Receive, review, verify and process web orders for accessible materials and specialized aids and equipment for distribution in a timely manner.

• Manage the receipt, processing and dissemination of specialized materials from vendors.

• Assist with the maintenance of the inventory of specialized instructional materials.

• Assist with the receipt of returned educational materials and the processing and shipment of new materials and outgoing orders as needed.

• Communicate with local school corporations as needed to insure timely delivery of educational materials and resolution of issues relating to dissemination of materials and order fulfillment.

• Manage incoming communication with the public and local education agencies via phone, email, and fax.

• Manage and troubleshoot student hardware technology to insure operation, including installation of software, processing repairs and communication with technology vendors.

• Create documents in MS Word and translate in braille translation software.

• Create and work efficiently with programs based in intermediate/advanced Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.

• Work with Joomla for webpage maintenance and design.

Preferred Experience:

Two (2) years’ work experience in program coordination; development; implementation; or accredited college training in a related field.

• Intermediate to advanced skills with the: Internet, data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing, specifically with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel; Joomla; Braille translation software; Windows PC.

• Working knowledge of Braille and Braille Translation software.

• Knowledge and understanding of cataloging/classification of information and database and spreadsheet structure. Work experience in library circulation systems is preferred.

• Ability to organize work load efficiently, meet tight timelines, problem solve effectively, and perform duties of the job accurately and with minimal input and follow-up from supervisor.

• Possesses strong customer service and support skills.

• Possesses strong English language skills (reading, speaking, listening), verbal and non-verbal skills.

• Ability to maintain records in a timely and organized fashion.

• Ability and willingness to work in close proximity with other members of the staff in the statewide center.

• Ability to work well with a team and independently.

• Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lb. boxes of supplies, textbooks, and equipment; reach, stoop, and stand.
