SR Financial Analyst FP&A

As a SR. Financial Analyst at Petsmart, you will work on a highly visible, flexible and collaborative team with analysts of diverse backgrounds and skill sets to solve business challenges in a retail environment.

The SR. Financial Analyst will work with a variety of business partners to evaluate business performance, resolve complex business challenges and provide insights into future business endeavors. The ideal candidate is a creative and passionate problem-solver who thinks big, acts quickly, and is motivated to develop new approaches to optimizing PetSmart's business using quantitative techniques with context. This position requires a solution-oriented candidate with a combination of deep business acumen, knowledge of statistical best practices, and an analytical mindset. The candidate must have the ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups to solve business problems and provide data solutions that are organized and simple to understand. This is a highly visible position that has the opportunity to work with all levels of the business.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

•Drive the business forward by engaging broadly with partners to solution business problems where analytic projects or tools have the greatest impact

•Execute and evaluate appropriate analyses (cluster analysis, logistic/linear regression, collaborative filtering, etc.) given an array of tactical and strategic objectives.

•Communicate insights and recommend areas for further data discovery

•Leverage large-scale, multiple data sources and structures and analyze large, complex data sets

•Synthesize data into succinct presentations that communicate results effectively and aid in senior management decision making.

•Perform large-scale statistical research, analysis and modeling that drives the business forward.

•Compile monthly board deck and incorporate meaningful insights that provide executive management with the appropriate context to make sound financial decisions

•Ad-hoc analysis and projects as required involving data mining, financial modeling and applied statistical methodologies.

Requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field. An advanced degree is strongly preferred.

•4-5 years related experience is required.

•Strong analytical skills with solid foundation in statistical techniques.

•Strong business acumen with an understanding of the marketing, accounting, decision support models, operations, leadership, and financial levers that drive profit, loss and customer experience.

•Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities

•Ability to translate business needs and goals into analytic approach and response

•Deep experience with data mining, data analytics, predictive modeling, and advanced modeling techniques.

•Ability to work independently, productively and follow through on all responsibilities to bring projects to a successful conclusion.

•Strong communication skills and ability to partner with associates from across the business.

•Must be solution oriented with a thirst to learn and ability to think logically through multi-faceted problems.

•Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multiple projects that will impact the business at various levels (assign and meet deadlines, provide feedback, etc.)

•Advanced in Excel, BI database extraction - SAP a plus.

•Experience in retail, marketing or ecommerce, a plus.
