Job Description:

The Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) is currently seeking a Community Liaison for Southern Indiana. The Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) mission is to work with local, state, and national partners to provide resources and technical assistance to aid rural communities in shaping their visions for community economic development. This position serves Southern Indiana. Employee can reside anywhere in the region that allows for frequent and consistent travel throughout all of those counties and to Indianapolis.


• The OCRA Liaison (CL) grows and maintains working relationships with local and regional leaders including, but not limited to elected officials, local economic development officials (LEDOs), chambers of commerce, community foundations, Main Street organizations, and regional planning organizations.

• CLs serve as a front door to state government and act as a conduit between communities and state agencies. They seek, document, highlight, and disseminate community economic development best practices. The CL promotes the agency’s menu of programs and provides technical assistance to communities in the engagement of these programs. Programs include, but are not limited to Small Cities and Towns Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Place Based Investment Fund, Indiana Shovel Ready site certification, Indiana Main Street program, Community Readiness Initiative, the Hometown Collaboration Initiative, and Stellar Communities.

• CLs provide neutral facilitation services for fact-finding, asset mapping, and problem solving for communities and appropriate organizations. They identify, link, and convene local and regional groups with common missions and interests in moving their communities forward. CLs perform other duties as assigned.
