The Marriott International HQ located at 10400 Fernwood Road, Bethesda, MD, 20817 is currently hiring a Sr Director, Enterprise Experience Design.

Responsibilities include: The Senior Director Enterprise Experience Design serves as a key leader within the Experience Design + Innovation (EDI) team focused on applying and evolving innovation strategies which connect the physical with the digital, ultimately enabling connected and compelling consumer experiences at the property, portfolio and enterprise levels. This position will lead diverse projects with portfolio and enterprise impact, closely collaborating with the VP Brand Experience Design and VP Digital Platform Experience Design, as well as cross-disciplinary leaders and teams within and beyond BMSC. Ensuring brand, operational and digital experience integrity for both on and above property experiences, this role will also contribute to the design and adoption of new processes, tools and strategies which contribute to the broader mission of the EDI team as a cutting-edge COE for innovation, style and experience design excellence. A key focus area will be elevating enterprise efforts to foster a culture of innovation across teams, disciplines and continents, a shared charge across EDI leadership. As a project leader, the role requires the ability to understand the diverse needs of stakeholders across the business, apply a deep understanding of consumer, market and digital trends, coordinate team members while shepherding the innovation process from insights to concepts and prototypes, addressing operational and digital dimensions while pushing for disruptive, new thinking and solutions which stretch our brands, disciplines and company.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

• BA/BFA (MBA/MFA preferred)

• World Class experience in two or more of the following

• Branding, hotel OPS, digital design

• 8+ years experience working in creative / brand development role

• Ability to work on cross-functional team.

Technical & Creative Skills

• Experience within a brand organization or design agency creating transactional products in a consumer-facing market, preferably with experience working on projects for the hospitality industry

• Effective project management skills with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, develop accurate cost estimates, and manage to a budget

• Must possess knowledge and practice of core principals in brand strategy, OPS strategy, concept and digital design

• Creative visualization and exceptional art and design skills, particularly in regard to creating work with a comprehensive, consistent, and imaginative look and feel; an inborn eye for continuity and quality

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

• Leads the application, and assists in the regular evolution, of EDI innovation strategies to multi-brand portfolio projects and enterprise initiatives with a focus on digital / physical experience design integration and activation.

• Leads the synthesis of various research work streams into targeted concepts and prototypes grounded in consumer and operational insights, coordinate the concepting and design of new products or services, both digital and physical, and POC these concepts in market. Requires the ability to work with large, extended teams in a highly matrixed organization.

• Manages and integrates large and/or multiple disciplines and departments, processes and/or projects within a discipline. Generally influences work of cross-functional or extended teams across BMSC. Effective stakeholder management is critical.

• Promotes continual creative improvement and actively contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence in style and design, both physical and digital.

• Conceives and creates experience-oriented design solutions that fulfill strategic business objectives, balancing needs for consumer relevance and business return.

• Directs all phases of creative work from concept to implementation.

• Responsible for mentoring and leading junior creative staff through critique of their work to maintain consistent creative quality.

• Ensures the discipline establishes, communicates and drives continent, discipline and brand alignment with EDI strategy.

• Participates in many new business development efforts, leading creative direction for portfolio projects.

• Effectively translates branding and marketing strategies for a wide range of internal clients into exceptional creative concepts.

• Builds strong relationships with cross functional partners in Brand Management, eCommerce, Marketing, to ensure alignment of efforts and priorities.

• Researches best practices and new design trends to ensure designs are innovative and cutting-edge.

• Leads and participates in informal and formal brainstorming sessions to drive successful design direction and maintain a consistent level of quality of work.

• Recruits, supervises and art directs freelance talent; ensure full understanding of client deliverables as well as timely and accurate completion of projects.

• Leads concept development and brainstorming, applying innovative thinking and creative ideas to generate design solutions across multiple platforms.

• Develops creative ideas based on criteria in creative brief and/or direction from senior leadership/client, collaborating with team members and copywriters.

• Develops style of the presentation for existing concepts/directions; determine best format to execute ideas.

• Presents design concepts to clients, articulates creative concepts and rationale to clients and other team members.

• Participates and leads meetings, discussions, and presentations as part of the development process for rough concepts to final design.

• Represents and champions the interests of EDI – identify issues, voice concern to raise awareness and offer solutions that can be elevated to senior management to address.
