About the position

The Avaya Remote Engineer is responsible for high level design, engineering, software programming, installations, service and maintenance of telecommunications systems, including Avaya Aura and all associated applications and related systems applications for commercial and government clients.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Offsetting of standard hours could come into play to meet the needs of the customers. The Avaya Remote Engineer will be expected to respond to after-hours requests and be included in the On-Call Rotation.

Responsibilities:

Install, upgrade and configure Avaya communication equipment.

Take ownership of all issues above routine MAC.

Configure and install equipment for new office locations; identify and troubleshoot facilities provider issues.

Diagnose complex system issues, identify alternative solutions and implement appropriate corrective action.

Interact with PMO, professional services and customer service, NetOps, sales team, management and work with manufacturer to resolve issues.

Respond to customers’ maintenance issues and answer questions.

Travel to customers’ facilities.

Provide end user and basic administration training.

Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner, under sometimes stressful circumstances.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Requirements:

Certification and/or work experience with Communication Manager (CM), Communication Manager Messaging (CMM), Session Manager (SM), System Manager (SMGR), Application Enablement Services (AES), and Session Border Controller (SBC).

Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills, including the use of white boarding and web collaboration tools.

Proficient in the implementation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of converged IP telephony solutions.

Proficient in data technologies such as QoS, routing and switching. Comfortable working with different protocols such as H.323, SIP, QSIG, RTP, and TRCP.

Well versed in crisis management and root cause analysis techniques.

Fully computer literate and fluent in Microsoft Office applications including Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Good organizational and time management skills.

Accurate with attention to detail.

Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.

A willingness to conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
