A Post-Doctoral Associate position is available immediately at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Department of Anesthesiology. The Post-Doctoral Associate will explore pain-related gene function using genomic analyses, persistent pain model, pain behavior testing, qPCR, calcium imaging, western blot and IHC in the laboratory of Dr. Roy Levitt. This position participates in interdisciplinary persistent pain research focused on defining the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying vulnerability to the acute-to-chronic pain transition. The program is poised to develop novel diagnostics, preventative and therapeutic strategies to transform the care of patients. This position functions more independently and contributes to experimental design, data analyses, paper draft preparation and grant application.

Job Requirements

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D. or M.D. in Neuroscience related fields of study. Two years of work experience in pain research is highly desirable. Familiarity with animal pain model surgery and pain behavior test are highly desirable. Ability to teach and mentor students in the laboratory. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to successfully and professionally interact with others.
