Director of Radiology/Imaging

As the Director you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, directing and growing medical imaging services both on and off the Medical Center.

Plans, directs and manages Radiology Department activities and operations to assure quality service in accordance with all regulatory requirements and standards.

Promotes teamwork and applies appropriate resource management.

Serves as technical resource for department personnel.

Accountable for leadership, planning, program development, budget preparation/fiscal management, staffing, & overall department organization.

Communicates, coordinates, delegates, and assigns the daily activities of the Medical Imaging Department.

Supervises patient flow and staffing.

Provides testing for patients with many different clinical conditions and all age ranges.

Maintains current procedural protocols, computer files, equipment maintenance program and quality control data.

Ensures facility technical and documentation expectations are consistent with JCAHO and meets Regulatory requirements in accordance with the Federal & State Rules and Regulations.

Ensures that the section meets regulatory requirements.

Works independently and proceeds on own initiative in compliance with departmental guidelines and practices.


5-7 years Acute Care Radiology/Imaging experience required

3-5 years Acute Care Medical Imaging management experience in a hospital setting required


Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree or related health profession

A Master’s Degree in Healthcare, Management or a related field preferred

Certifications / Licensure:

Current State License by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required

Medical Radiologic Technology (MRT) highly preferred

Special Skills:

Superior leadership, strategic planning and communication skills are a must

Must be able to handle a variety of responsibilities under pressure.

Must function independently and making appropriate decisions.

High degree of manual skills and dexterity necessary to assist in emergency situation, operate equipment, position patients, prepare medications and assist patients and physicians.
