Company has an opportunity for a Production Manager, at its Warren, PA steel drum production facility. It is a leading global supplier of industrial packaging solutions, manufacturing a variety of plastic, steel and fiber containers for a diverse customer base spanning industries including oil & gas, food & beverage, pharmaceutical and chemical, amongst others. We are seeking a strong Production Manager to lead a group of employees across production lines to safely produce quality and profitable products for the plant. The implementation of lean principles and tools will also be a key element of this position as the plant continues its transformation.
The production workforce is hard working but will need a firm, respected leader to support the changes to the culture of the plant necessary for success.
Main Position Responsibilities:
•Ensure that the production lines are run in a safe manner and that employees are instructed and led with a safety mindset first.
•Efficient scheduling and operation of multiple operations across a large production line producing plastic drums for various industrial uses
•Daily reporting around production efficiency, downtime, scrap and labor usage
•Leading daily production start-up meetings and safety meetings; assisting with training as needed
•Tracking of employee hours in our payroll system along with scheduling vacation, managing attendance records
•Proper discipline of employees as necessary
•Efficiently manage the hourly labor costs throughout the production line and warehouse
•Strong and consistent communication of Company and plant objectives to the workforce
•Hiring of production labor followed by proper orientation and on-boarding to the plant production environment
•Introduction and continuous progress around implementation of lean methodologies (i.e. 5s, kaizen events, visual factory, etc.)
Key Attributes / Behaviors
•5+ years in a supervisory or management position in a manufacturing facility
•Strong leadership skills and the ability to accept feedback to improve
•Excellent communication skills, particularly with hourly production personnel
•Basic understanding and demonstration of supervisory and organization skills
•Familiarity with lean concepts and tools
•Ability and willingness to operate heavy machinery when necessary
•Strong computer skills (Microsoft suite)
•Potential willingness to relocate to other company’s USA facilities in future to grow career with a global manufacturing organization
•Bachelor’s degree in related discipline strongly preferred
•Bi-lingual skills (English & Spanish) a plus
•An understanding of welding and metal stamping is a plus
• Warren is a metal drum facility, so Metal stamping experience is required
