Job Description: The nurse practitioner serves as a key clinical provider and team member in the treatment and management of the surgical patient in the operative, emergency department, med/surg floor and intensive care unit settings. He/she will practice under the direction of the Chief of Surgery and other attending surgeons in a manner consistent with both the Board of Registration in Medicine regulations and hospital policy. Primarily, this individual will cover patients of our physicians credentialed in the Department of Surgery and will also work collaboratively with the Critical Care Intensivist and Hospitalist on the med/surg floor and Intensive Care Unit. The nurse practitioner is responsible for the initial assessment and admission of patients; assisting in the evaluation and preparation of patients for surgery; ; caring for patients following surgery and in the intensive care unit setting. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required. License Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant License required. Registration Advanced Cardiac Life Support required. 0-1 years related work experience required in Postgraduate experience as a surgical practitioner. Acute care experience (in the hospital, inpatient) /critical care experience (ICU, CCU) experience. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
