Description:

Diagnostic Sonographer needed in Washington DC, Sterling VA and Bethesda MD. The Diagnostic Sonographer, under the supervision of the Physician Administrator and appropriate Chief Technologist/Manager, performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and supports general operations of the office. This is a non-exempt hourly position. Job Description: Perform ultrasound imaging procedures as prescribed by a physician. Provide patient protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Assist in performing first-aid or CPR if necessary. Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination. Report supply needs and any deficiencies in equipment to Chief Technologist/Supervisor. Maintain a clean, safe, orderly work area and observe OSHA requirements at all times. Maintain adequate records as directed. Perform image processing duties as required. Correctly process all pertinent exam related information including charge slips and/or direct computer entry as directed. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of and comply with the policies and procedures of the Corporation. Should be familiar with the operation of the clerical and reception areas of the office and assist when needed, including the management of the patient records and files. Take initiative for professional advancement through personal assessment of strengths and weaknesses and develop an action plan with supervisors to improve skills. Promote team approach and a positive image of WRA to everyone with whom contact is made. Must maintain confidentiality when dealing with patient information and Corporate business. Assist and teach other personnel as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in OB/GYN and/or abdominal scanning. Graduates of accredited schools have one year to pass the registry. Should be able to lift and move patients as required. Must become certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation within one year of employment and renew certification annually. Must understand and be able to operate computers within the office for clinical and other purposes.
