Description:

The Administration Officer is responsible for maintaining day to day financial, accounting, administrative and personnel services in order to meet legislative requirements and support municipal operations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with preparation of the budget.

Implement financial policies and procedures.

Reconcile the general ledger

Prepare and reconcile general bank statements, establish and maintain supplier’s accounts.

Ensure data/transactions are entered into the system properly.

Prepare income statements and balance sheets.

Assist with the annual audit.

Maintain financial files and records.

Ensure the safeguarding of all municipal funds.

Issue, code and authorize purchase order.

Reconcile the accounts payable, Reconcile the accounts receivable.

Reconcile the weekly deposits.

Manage distribution of utilities bills and collection of accounts.

Manage the filling, storage and security of documents.

Respond to inquiries, issue permits and licence.

Review remittance and payroll reports.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The incumbent must have proficient knowledge and skills in the following areas

Computerized accounting programs

Generally accepted accounting principles

Preparation of financial statements

Municipal services

Supervisory skills

Accounting and book-keeping skills

Effective written communications skills.

MODE OF QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of Hnd, Bsc and any other degree/experience
