Hospital Employed Setting

Would split time between Live Oak (0.5 FTE) and Lake City (0.5 FTE)

Would be only full-time Orthopedic Surgeon on staff at Shands Live Oak.

Call Coverage: arranged from Orthopedic Surgeon(s) from Lake City. No more than 15 days per month.

Office space: Medical Office Building on hospital campus.

need 3 Orthopedic surgeons in the combined Service Areas of the hospital by 2016. The needs analysis also shows 4 orthopedic surgeons needed in the Lake city area. In addition to the population growth and projected increase of orthopedic discharges in the Live Oak and Lake city service areas recent analysis show an outmigration of a combined total of over 500 surgeries (IP & OP) annually being redirected to the surrounding Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tallahassee areas. Live Oak proposes employment of an orthopedic surgeon that will be shared with Lake city hospital. The Surgeon will be 0.5 FTE at Live oak and 0.5 FTE at Lake City.

Reason for search: Supply and Demand Data shows shortage, market share growth (combined Lake city and Live Oak have approximately 14% Orthopedic market share in the CSA), and loss of cases,

Live Oak only performs day surgery. MD Anesethesia available Monday-Friday. One OR, one scope room, 4 PACU beds. Lake City has one C-section room in addition to Four ORs and a bronch/endo room. Emergency cases and call more at Lakeshore.
