1.) Provides leadership by demonstrating high standards of work ethics, willingness to communicate and compromise and enthusiasm toward progress and growth of the organization.

2.) Monitors the trends of medical management, regulatory and legislative changes of the government, policy changes of various health care agencies, and advise the Medical Staff and the Administration accordingly.

3.) Motivates Staff by facilitating communication between the Administration and the Staff and by supplying feedback and guidance.

4.) Promotes cooperative interdepartmental relationships.


1.) Assist Medical Director in the development, review and revision of departmental policy and procedure, supervision and implementation of services and programs to meet and/or exceed the regulations and standards of certifying agencies.

Quality Assurance:

1.) Ensure the quality assurance/quality improvement.

2.) Ensure clinical programs meet or exceed established standards for quality care.

3.) Participates in directing educational needs of the department and its staff members to ensure delivery of the highest quality patient care

4.) Participates in directing the patient and family groups and educational guidelines.

5.) Actively participate and encourage research/development activities in the department.

6.) Act as a resource for clinical service.

Age Specific Competence

1.) Is competent to treat and care for acute psychiatric population.


1.) Actively participate in hospital marketing activities.


1) Currently licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine.

2) Extensive medico-administrative background/experience preferred.

3) Board Certification in Psychiatry.

4) Meets all licensure and credentialing requirements as outlines in the Medical Staff

5) Knowledge of growth and development across the life span.
