Manufacturing Manager

Our client, a custom capital equipment and processing systems manufacturer in Buffalo, NY region is searching for a highly qualified Manufacturing Manager for their growing organization. REPORTING TO: VP of Operations

SUPERVISES: Union Employees

OBJECTIVE: Manage the day-to-day manufacturing processes to meet department priorities while adhering to overall schedules and budgets. Also, act as the main contact to identify manufacturing process problems and recommend improvement for optimum productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee day-to-day manufacturing and processes of the plant, monitor and prioritize workflow and schedules to meet deadlines, budgets and goals.

• Detailed production schedule planning (vs macro-planning), metric building and execution of production schedules

• Manage staff and provide technical and operational direction as required.

• Manage quality objectives and activities in the plant to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.

• Monitor, track, analyze, forecast and report on budgets and goals.

• Coordinate, train and enforce Safety Policies and procedures in the plant.

• Identify problems with manufacturing process and recommend improvements for optimum productivity.

• Enforce company policies while adhering to all terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

• Maintain effective labor relations & communicate any potential issues to management and/or HR.

• Assist in hiring, training and reviewing performance of staff.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) with minimum of 5 years experience preferred

• Engineer to order, custom equipment manufacturing or Job Shop experience preferred,

• Lean Six Sigma Training is preferred

• Need to possess strong critical thinking, problem solving, analyzing and examining skills to find the best solutions to various situations

• Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner

• Good technical writing skills

• Skilled in Microsoft Office to level of creating professional quality documents

• Experience with MRP / ERP software (Syteline experience preferred)

• Experience with Microsoft Project

• Prioritizing and executing daily work assignments

• Experience with administration and adherence to a QMS (ISO-9001 preferred)

• Administration and Management – Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

• Fabrication and Welding processes

• Safety programs

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Manufacturing environment: Welding, fabrication, assembly, inspection and testing of high temperature materials processing systems

• Union Manufacturing shop

• Regular interfacing with manufacturing facility personnel, production control, purchasing and engineering

• Occasional travel to suppliers, subcontractors and customers
