Position: Senior Water Resources Engineer / Engineering Manager

Office Location: Sacramento California

Term: Full-Time Hire

Dynamic mid-sized groundwater consulting firm providing engineering, hydrogeologic, and related groundwater services to municipalities, water districts, and other public and private entities throughout California, actively seeks Senior Water Resources Engineer / Engineering Manager to join our Sacramento, CA office.

The successful Senior Water Resources Engineer will have extensive water resources/groundwater project and field experience as it relates to all facets of municipal water systems of any size and type of water source (groundwater and surface water).

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Work responsibilities may include but are not limited to: providing marketing skills with associated proposal development; work on the development of water master plans and various other water utility planning documents, provide all aspects of the design process including the ultimate development of plans and specifications for various construction projects; manage all aspects of the design and construction process; develop and manage design and construction budgets; interact with clients along with the management of project meetings and presentations; and, participate in the development of technical memorandums and reports.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Water Resources, 15+ years of experience in groundwater or water resources projects (with emphasis on all facets of municipal water works – planning, engineering and design, management, operation, design and construction), and the possession of a California Professional Engineers license (or if licensed in another state the ability to obtain a California license within 6 months of employment).

Candidates would be expected to have a thorough knowledge of and commensurate experience which includes:

Engineering Management – Demonstrate current and past ability to effectively manage and work with clients, engineers and designers, construction inspectors, contractors, and administrative and clerical personnel. Oversee design and construction budgets, review and comment on project designs, provide design quality control, and have the ability to meet strict project deadlines. Demonstrate the ability to effectively schedule and manage meetings with clients.

Planning – Demonstrate knowledge of water usage and demand periods along with fire flow and other water system impact processes that pertain to the modification and/or expansion of public water systems and supplies.

Modeling – Understand the basic concepts behind the modeling and calibrating of water system distribution models including modeling of contaminant and chemical flow

Mechanical and Civil Projects – Demonstrate a though knowledge of the design and engineering aspects required to design and specify projects such as water treatment plants (iron and manganese removal, utilization of GAC for volatiles, small surface water plants), various chemical feed and monitoring systems, pumping stations, water distribution systems and storage facilities. Understanding of project control SCADA and monitoring is also desired.

Water Treatment – Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the various types of treatment equipment and processes required to mitigate contaminant issues

Regulatory Permitting and CEQA – Demonstrate a general knowledge Division of Drinking Water (DDW) and the CEQA permitting process.

Water Quality Issues – Demonstrate familiarity with current and proposed drinking water regulations.

Construction Administration – Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of bidding both public and private construction projects; and management of the entire construction process from pre-bid though project commissioning and startup.

Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication, along with computer and organizational skills. Knowledge of AutoCAD, database and GIS software is desirable.
