POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs intermediate-level network engineering and operational support tasks. Is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and application components. A Network Engineer performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the network performance meets company and user satisfaction at Headquarters, Prineville Operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

Provide Level 2/3 support for network related issues, including installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance and everyday activities related to switches, routers, wireless networks, firewalls, etc.

Assist in the design, setup and configure or new technologies and complex switching environments 5%

Assist other departments in troubleshooting problems, including client workstations, phones, server equipment and applications, etc 5%

Report issues/concerns that affect the operational stability of any production system or environment to management

Participate in emergency meetings and actions to resolve major outages of server, networking, or telecom

Complete other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or 3-5 years experience in designing, maintaining and supporting Network systems in an enterprise or service provider environment

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification required

Required Technical Skills/Knowledge:

Strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills of network functions, including switching, routing, VoIP, Wireless and security

Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, SPAM, etc.)

Ability to configure and setup Firewalls, VPN Connections and Security appliances for access to vital business applications

Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking to support business requirements

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position at least 75% of the time. Requires frequent and repetitive use of hands and fingers to operate computer, mouse, keyboard, and office related equipment and the ability to reach with hands and arms. Requires the ability to lift up to 20lbs occasionally and bend, stand, kneel, or stoop as necessary. This position requires the ability frequently move around the facility and repair network-related issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Office, non-manual work; the worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Performs intermediate-level network operational support tasks on existing systems with moderate level of direction and supervision. Provides support of the implementation of new systems and technologies with a medium level of complexity at Headquarters, Prineville Operations and Tire Center locations.

Performs network related duties, including installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance and everyday activities related to switches, routers, firewalls, etc.

Assists in the implementation of new technologies and associated projects

Assists other departments in troubleshooting problems, including client workstations, phones, server equipment and applications, etc.

Documents network configuration and installation information through the use of drawings and system configurations.

Reports issues/concerns that affect the operational stability of any production system or environment to management. Participates in emergency meetings and actions to resolve major outages of server, networking, or telecom. Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification required. Bachelor's Degree and/or 3-5 years experience in designing, maintaining and supporting Network systems in an enterprise or service provider environment.

Strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills of network functions, including switching, routing and security; strong understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP and services such as DNS and DHCP.

Ability to work effectively under moderate supervision; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers; strong communications and customer service skills; must be able to communicate effectively with customers and staff in a clear and concise manner both in writing and orally, in technical and non-technical terms; ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes in technology.

Frequent typing, sitting, standing and walking, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.

Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
