Technical lead systems development for a lunar lander, including key decisions on systems and mission design

Function as the most influential and most experienced technical role for the lunar lander mission team

Responsible for managing spacecraft system requirements, system margin philosophy, launch vehicle requirements, ground control requirements, lander configuration management system, V&V procedures, qualification plan, and technical risk management and mitigation plan through the entire development of the lunar lander

Provide technical guidance and experience for the lunar lander mission team

Work side-by-side with the Mission Director and key customers to design, develop, and build a lunar lander that meets mission objectives and top system-level requirements

Assist with technical proposals for mission opportunities

Prepare and deliver technical documentation and reporting

Lead technical presentations and/or demonstrations of the lunar lander during concept development and engineering development phases

Communicate with multiple engineering disciplines to resolve technical risks and challenges relating to the lunar lander

Communicate with partners and customers to resolve technical risks and challenges relating to the lunar lander and/or customer requirements


Demonstrated experience and leadership in multiple of the following areas: structure/thermal design and analysis, avionics systems, power systems, propulsion system, communication systems, flight software, mission management, systems engineering, SS&MA, trajectory analysis, launch vehicle constraints, risk management, and system configuration management

Strong understanding of the space and launch vehicle mission environment

Experience developing space systems, from feasibility studies through flight and mission operations flight

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and problem solving skills

Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams

BS degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering or other related fields.

Minimum 10 years of relevant space mission experience


Knowledgeable of system manufacturing and V&V plan for space systems

Knowledgeable of Range Safety compliance

Experience in developing space systems for a Class D unmanned spacecraft or similar

Mission experience for Class D spacecraft systems or similar

Demonstrated ability to adapt proven aerospace practices and methodologies into a commercial, small mission, lean team environment

Must be a U.S. person.
