DUTIES:

The Emergency Department Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Emergency Department. This position carries the responsibility to plan, organize, direct and evaluate the daily emergency operations and services of the hospital. The Manager acts as the Prehospital Nurse Liaison.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education: Current California RN license required. Current certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support required. Current Mobile Intensive Care Nurse certification or obtain within six months of hire.

Preferred Education: Certified Emergency Nurse and Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum certifications recommended.

Experience: Minimum of three to five years of progressive Emergency Department management experience, with a background in trauma is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A strong working knowledge of acute emergency and prehospital care and the regulations that govern health care facilities and ambulance services offering this level of care is mandatory. The Emergency Room Manager will demonstrate effective teaching skills. Good verbal and written communications skills are required. Must have good decision making skills and the ability to work well with others. Must have relevant training, experience and current competence in care of emergency patients
