February 1995 – February 1997 Government Computer Bureau (Ministry Support ) Position: Assistant Systems Analyst I was moved to an Assistant Systems Analyst Position, main focus being to assist government ministries with all their computer system needs.
Responsibilities: I assisted different government ministries in developing new computer systems, purchasing computer equipment and tender evaluations. Analysis of departmental systems needs and making recommendations on the right product to purchase and implement. Ensuring that all government computer equipment was registered with the bureau and recorded in a database. Making post-installation checks of new equipment and organizing training for new users. Liaising with the Supplies Department for old computer equipment that was due for replacement and ensured that it was safely put away. Liaising with the private companies who had supply and maintenance contracts to ensure all is done appropriately.
July 1994 – January 1995 Government Computer Bureau (Operations Section) - currently called Department of IT Position: Analyst Programmer I was employed at the Government Computer Bureau in the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning in the Operations Section. I worked on the ICL Mainframe / ICL VME Operating System.
Responsibilities: System Administration for different government computerized systems namely, Police Crime Recording System, Payroll System, Immigration, Accounts, Banking and Reconciliation and Education(Examinations). I was also responsible for the High Volume Printing of daily request and jobs as well as ensuring successful Backups (Daily, Weekly and monthly) are taken.

o January 2011 – April 2011 Government Accounting and Budgeting System Upgrade Senior DBA Consultant – Main Project Resource Encompasses: o Upgrading the Oracle Database from version 9i(9.2.0.8) to 11g (11.2.0.2) o Implementing Oracle Application Tablespace Model (OATM) o Application Upgrade version 11.5.10.2 to latest patch set level o Payroll upgrade version 11.5.9 to latest patch set level. o Achieved the assigned project testing cycles 1, 2 and 3 within the specified period (I had to hand over as I was joining a different company).
o August 2010 – December 2010 Mobile Service Providers Interconnect Project Technical Lead (Unix/DBA) for Interconnect System Project Encompasses: - Participate in the requirements gathering process - Assess and discuss all Application vendor specifications and requirements and request hardware quotations from hardware suppliers following Application Vendor’s recommendations. - Installation of Oracle 10g (Rel 2) database software on the Interconnect Servers (Test Only, Production servers awaiting delivery). - Apply Patchset 10.2.0.1.0 to the Software on the server - Creation of the Interconncect test database and configure it for the application (according to application vendor’s specification). - Creation of all OS (unix), database and application users - Ensure all the necessary directories and paths are created as per application specification - Ensure all scripts are put in place and all the necessary cronjobs are scheduled to run at the required times - Liaising with the application vendor, application support staff, configuration and testing staff, billing analysts and users throughout the project for requirements clarification, testing and implementation. - Configure Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) backup for the Interconnect system and ensure the database backup runs at the scheduled times. - Configure filesystem backup, ensure all the specified filesystems are included in the backup set and schedule backup to run at the agreed times.
