Antepartum and L/D
Charge Nurse in Antepartum, Assigning patients per acuity, involved with all aspects of direct patient care, completed daily patient assessments, high level of teaching, and plan of care given to patients and their families, and acting as a patient advocate. Monitored high risk patients with various disease processes while keeping physicians notified of any changes or patient needs, IM injections, obtained FFN, started IVs and maintained PICC infusions. In depth discharge teaching re: the high risk antepartum patient.
During my years in L/D, I assisted physicians with all aspects of the Labor and Delivery process including Starting Inductions of labor along with continuous EFM and IV's, IUPC insertion as well as cytotec, cervadil and pitocin administration, PTL management, C/S deliveries, OR circulating, and recovery. Assistance with epidural management. Preformed immediate newborn care.
Triage of outpatients and notified physician of assessment findings and any changes.
Preceptor to nursing students, GN's and orientation for Antepartum and L/D new employees.
