-I am working with 3 datacenter managers in the Performance Management and Power Management of Distributed

Systems for large datacenters.

-My work lies between Machine Learning and Cloud Computing, that is, to develop new approaches and build scalable

and self-sustaining tools that enhance the performance dependability of datacenters, i.e.,datacenters that can operate

profitably and have a zero-carbon footprint.

-Empirical studies of energy consumption of emerging networked applications.

Position: Statistician and Data Warehouse Analyst Internship (April 2010–January 2011)

-Statistical analysis of sales history and ranking(velocity) for extremely large amount of data set.

-Cooperated with Amazon.com, developed relationship between quantity sold and 3rd party sales rank data.

-Created data warehouse tables using SQL, scripted to populate the fact and dimension tables as well as the populating

of the data warehouse.

-Implemented bitmap indexes over the warehouse data.

-Built predictive models of expected pricing and sales velocity based upon historical data using Rand SAS.

-This model helps the marketing manager enhance the quarterly sale up to 4.8%.

Project Title: Dynamic Program Analysis forReliable Concurrent Software (January 2011–March 2011)

-Developed a software Testing Tool that can accurately detect the atomicity violation bugs of multithreaded programs

which are widely used in multiprocessors.

-Increased the accuracy of the bug detection up to 5% with relatively little space overhead.

Project Title: Using Probabilistic and Statistical Reasoning to Predict Spreading of Influenza based on Google

Trends(January 2010–March 2010)

-Built models based on Hidden-Markov Model and developed algorithms using Markov Chain Monte Carlo.

-Used the symptom key words building the clustering pattern of Google Trends data and computed the probability of

the upcoming disease based on the evidence of all historical evidence.

-The accuracy of the prediction results reach to more than 80%.

Project Title: TCP-Like Reliable Protocol Based on UDP Application (January 2010–March 2010)

-Implemented the TCP-like reliable transport layer protocol using the unreliable service provided by UDP.

-Developed an application to transfer files using this TCP-like protocol.

-Used wrap-around buffer management and sliding window protocol building up two TCP daemons on both the server

and client sides.

-The transferring reliability reaches to 100%, no package lost.

China National Institute of Standardization, Beijing, China

Position: Software Developer Internship (January 2006–July 2008)

-Built a secure service for document format translation through the Internet and different platforms.

-Participated in the design of Uniform Office Format(UOF), which is a Chinese developed open standard for Office

applications based on XML. It is contained in a compressed file container, similar to OpenDocument and Office Open

XML.

-Proposed an XML based translation method to protect the private sensitive data in documents targeting to the creation

of a centralized web service to translate the document format.

-This method ensures that sensitive content never

circulates over the Internet, and can help to reduce the network traffic as well.

Computer Open System Laboratory, Beijing, China

Position: Research Associate(January 2005–July 2008)

-Participated in the projectBasic Standards for Chinese Office Software, which was sponsored by Ministry of Information

Industry of China.

-Developed a Java based module of Yongzhong Office Software, which is using the standard of XML based Uniform

Office Format and this software is on sale now.

-Used positioning information to describe the size of XML data blocks. Turned the SVG and MathML data into JPEG

formats, which can be well supported and displayed by common document processing software.

Students’ Sci&Tech Association, Microsoft .NET Web Server Group, Beijing, China

Position: Student Member (January 2007–July 2007)

-Cooperated with two other groups and developed China Airline Ticket Management System using SQL and ASP.NET.

-Designed the requirement analysis of database, modeled the concept data model, physical model, and the objective

database script as well as the programming part.

-Was the student leader of the Quality Assurance group.
